"This production is universally enjoyable. The performances are excellent, the script is tight and the humour is so acutely Australian that the audience feels like they are being genuinely included in the jokes" - Alex Lalak, The Daily Telegraph

Though we might adore them on their own, when men get together... they turn into a different animal. Men, Love and the Monkeyboy goes beyond the bravado to find out what motivates the male of the species.

Phillip spends his days studying primate behaviour. His specialist subject? The Gorilla, man's second closest cousin. He need not look far for inspiration. His father, Robbo, is 55 going on 16 and a terrible role model. His brother-in-law Dave is in the midst of a mid life crisis and has lost his confidence since his wife's promotion. His best mate Rex is insecure and hell bent on proving his virility by perusing anything that moves.

With role models like these, what's a guy to do when he meets a nice girl? Despite his dad and his mates' best efforts, Phillip's never had much luck with the ladies. He finally meets a girl he connects with, Chelsea... but Chelsea is not all she seems.

Will Phillip woo her like a gentleman or behave like a monkey?

From the pen of Caleb Lewis (Nailed, Rocketbaby and Dogfall) Men, Love and the Monkeyboy is a hilarious satire. It's a secret window into the way men see themselves and see each other, the way they love and the way they hurt. You'll start to wonder if we'll ever make it out of the jungle.

Featuring a talented ensemble of seasoned performers with Laurence Breuls, (The Pacific, Blackrock, Ghostrider) Julia Davis (Bell Shakespeare), John McNeill (Candy, Blue Murder), Andy Rodoreda (STC, Company B, Griffin Theatre), Bryce Youngman (Marx and Venus, SBS) and Angela Hattersley

"This production of Men, Love and the Monkeyboy triumphs in its fusion of comedy and heart, bought to life by the outstanding cast." -Emma McGowan, City Search

"The opening scene was explosive and unpredictable and set the tone for the rest of the play- high drama one moment, high comedy the next...So simple, but so tickled the ‘Ahowclever' gland. Very good stuff" - Lee Bemrose, The Drum Media

"Lewis has a good feel for dialogue and comedy. He creates dramatic moments that have us by turns, laughing, cringing, shaking our head in disbelief and empathising with the characters...Monkeyboy is witty, insightful and entertaining." - Jo Litson, The Sunday Telegraph

"Lewis has an ear for the manners and anxieties of contemporary Australia." - The Australian

"Caleb Lewis...marks the appearance of a significant new talent."  - Colin Rose, The Sun Herald
